Frequently asked questions
How does getting a roofing quote work?
You send a quote request describing your roof and what is going on with it, such as a leak, missing shingles or storm damage. Your request is passed to a local partner roofer, who looks at the details and prepares a quote for your home. You decide whether to accept it.
Who actually does the roof work?
The roof work is done by local partner roofers, not by MedCity Roofing. Each partner crew is an independent business that inspects, repairs or replaces your roof and answers for the finished job.
MedCity Roofing connects homeowners with independent licensed partners. Work is performed and warranted by the partner. Partner license numbers are provided with every quote.

Do I have to accept the quote?
No. A quote is information for your decision. You can ask the partner questions, compare it with other quotes you collect, or decide to wait.
How do I check a roofer's Minnesota license?
Ask for the license number and look it up with the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI), which offers an online license lookup. Do the same for any roofer who knocks on your door.
Which towns are covered?
Quote requests are welcome from Rochester, Byron, Kasson, Stewartville, Pine Island and surrounding Southeast Minnesota. If your town is close by but not on that list, send a request anyway and a partner roofer can tell you whether they can reach your address.
What roofing services can I get quoted?
You can request quotes for roof inspections, roof repairs, roof replacement, storm and hail damage, gutters, and insurance claim help. If your project does not fit neatly into one of those, describe it in your request and a partner roofer can say whether it is something they take on.
Do you work on homes only, or on businesses too?
Homeowners are the main audience, and small businesses are welcome to ask. Describe the building in your request, including the roof type if you know it, and a partner roofer can say whether it is a job they take on.
What should I do after a hail storm or high winds?
Stay off the roof. From the ground, look for missing or lifted shingles, dented gutters and downspouts, and granules collecting in the gutters. Take dated photos, and check the ceilings inside for stains or drips.
If water is getting in, ask a partner roofer about a temporary cover, then request a roof inspection before any permanent repair.

Can you help with an insurance claim?
Partner roofers can document roof damage with photos and notes and explain the steps of the claim process. Any decision about coverage is made by your insurance company, not by MedCity Roofing or the partner roofer. Call your insurance company to start a claim and ask what they need from you.
How much does a roof cost?
It depends on the size of the roof, its pitch, the material you choose and how much damage there is. Because every roof is different, each quote is specific to the home it is written for, and the partner roofer explains what it includes and what could change it.
What should I send when I ask for a quote?
Your street address and town, what you have noticed and roughly when it started, whether an insurance claim is open, and a few photos taken from the ground or a window. Please do not climb onto the roof to take them.
What should I do if a stranger knocks and says my roof is damaged?
Take your time. Ask for their Minnesota license number and look it up, get a written quote, and do not sign anything or pay up front under pressure. You are free to request an inspection from a roofer you choose.
